Although Millan has painted throughout her career, this is the first time that her watercolors have been exhibited in Colombia. Through these paintings, the artist takes an initial step in creating the characters that would later become the protagonists in her animations. These twelve watercolors comprise portraits of the co-participants and their characters presented in the animations of the exhibition Elevacion. The portraits seek to merge the people who were present in the workshops, with their virtual characters and the interpretation that Ana Maria has made of them. What is apprehended on paper is the moment at which the co-participants appropriate these ethereal characters in physical terms and bring them to life. In these watercolors, Millan captures a moment at which the unconscious comes to the surface and the characters are present in the physical world.
